#BossBabeChats: The Confetti Bar
This week on #BossBabeChats; we have Jessica from The Confetti Bar. What can be more fun than having your days filled with confetti? I am so excited for you to learn more about the why behind her business, and can you guess what her favorite emoji is?
Why did you start your business
Hi guys! Jessica here from The Confetti Bar: a colorful, magical place where we believe happiness should be celebrated!
Confetti…it’s like the quintessential symbol for celebrations, right? It’s colorful and whimsical and fun and magical – everything you generally want a party to be. So why not really make it something special?
Well that’s what I thought when I decided to start The Confetti Bar, and once I had my idea, it was full steam ahead to actually turn it into a business!
Is where your business is now, originally where you thought it would be?
Yes and no. I mean I guess when I started I never imagined I would have made hundreds of confetti mixes and designed for some of the awesome clients I’ve had the pleasure of working with, but I also have worked hard to grow this business to where it is so it’s not a total surprise lol.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up
When I was really young I remember telling my parents I didn’t know what I wanted to be, but I knew I wanted it to be unique and different. As I got a little older I was really interested in filmmaking and wanted to be a director, and dabbled in book publishing as well. I’ve kind of been all over the map!
What was the best business advice you've received
Probably to focus on what is it I do best as well as focus the majority of my time on the actual money-making aspects of the business.
What is your advice for other women who are launching a business
Stay committed! Starting a business is a long, hard, and often lonely journey with lots of bumps along the way, but if you stay committed (and flexible!), things eventually start to fall into place.
What's the hardest obstacle you've overcome as a business owner
I’d say the logistics of actually running a business — like taxes and licenses and how to set up an inline store, etc. A business was born from my passion, but I wasn’t necessarily looking to go into business, if that makes sense. I had to learn real quick how to adapt!
Is there anything you wish you would have done sooner in your business?
I think things happen for a reason and any “mistake” I’ve made has taught me something, but if anything I’d say I wish I had more clarity earlier on so I could have honed in on where to focus my energy sooner. Although things are always changing anyway, so it’s more about adapting and staying flexible.
What is your favorite quote?
“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” — Earl Nightingale
